September began with the great event of WIDECOMBE FAIR and what a day it was. This was definitely the year of the volunteer. So many people came to help us run the café in the old Church House and archery in the furthest field – with the help of Heatree Activity Centre. Some came for the whole day and others for an hour or so providing opportunity for others to take a valuable break. Everything was so well organised that it seemed as if we were less busy than last year, that there were less people. It was the slick teamwork that made the whole experience a great delight.
I am reluctant to mention any one person… so I won’t but the group of young adults that came from Providence House, Battersea were superb at looking after the guests in the garden. So many complimented their politeness, their caring approach and their positive attitude. A great credit to the young people of today.
Many of the volunteers commented on how much they enjoyed their time with us and how lovely everyone was to work with. So thank you all for your time, your skills, your cakes, your smiles and your hard work. It proved to be a really valuable community time and fundraising event. We raised £3600.
Thank you all so very much
