Feel welcome to join us on Saturday 14th September 2019 from 10.00am – 6.00pm and learn more about the opportunities we can provide.
Shallowford is a place of learning and building experiences that opens doors to many who have no idea that pouring sheets of rain are worth the endurance, that the smells of pigs are delightful and cockerels and cows have more use than just meat. Whilst farm life provides critical learning stages for young children, we importantly also provide challenging practical STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) training in a real world context to young people at secondary school or University levels. Currently Brambletye School visit us each year with their top Scholars to extend and put into practice their STEM curriculum.
Youth groups with their own plans are welcome to use us as a base for adventures on Dartmoor, whilst for older groups we can provide practical development on a range of rural skills from hedge laying, willow weaving, pig rearing to chicken production, effective carbon capture and debates on modern farming practices, or simply a warm home in which to relax and explore the moors. Some schools and organisations use us as a base for their ‘Activity Weeks’ or for Geography field trips.
